About Me

Penny J. Fife, MFT, CEDS

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist / Certified Eating Disorder Specialist in Las Vegas, Nevada

Professional Background

Since 1995, I have been practicing in Las Vegas, specializing in mental health and therapeutic services. My journey began with a profound experience in California, where I spent five years working in a residential, dual-diagnostic substance abuse adolescent treatment center. It was there that I discovered my passion for working with teenagers, leading to a lifelong dedication to adolescent therapy.

Upon returning to Las Vegas, I continued to focus on teen therapy and expanded my expertise to include eating disorders, working with clients of all ages. My commitment to professional growth led me to become a Level 2 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Specialist. EMDR is a mental health treatment that can help people heal from trauma, anxiety, or other mental health disorders. Currently, I am furthering my knowledge by studying the Gottman Method for couples therapy, holding a Level 1 certification. My practice encompasses all age groups, and I am dedicated to helping clients improve their lives through continuous self-improvement and skill enhancement.

Personal Background

On a personal note, I have had the privilege of raising six children in a blended family. My family includes my husband, a step-daughter, three biological sons, and my nephews, whom I helped raise after the loss of their parents. This personal journey has provided me with deep insights into the dynamics of blended families and the impacts of trauma, complementing my professional knowledge.

An active lifestyle has always been important to me. At 39, I discovered a love for cycling, participating in numerous 100-200 mile bike races. Unfortunately, an accident during one of these events resulted in injuries that forced me to give up cycling. This experience, while challenging, has reinforced my appreciation for life’s resilience and the importance of personal growth. I have learned that every closed door leads to new opportunities and blessings.

When clients first seek therapy, they often struggle to see their full potential and experience life’s richness. I can relate to these struggles through my own experiences, and I am passionate about helping others find the blessings that come from overcoming adversity.

Client comments

I have been bringing my daughter to Penny for about a year now. My daughter has been making great strides and improvements. She has been improving life habits, self-esteem, the ability to recognize problems, and then problem solve with improved communication and other coping skills. Penny has connected and built a good rapport with both me and my daughter. Even though my daughter is the patient, I have also felt supported, seen, and encouraged during our time with Penny.”

I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything! After today’s session, I really feel hopeful for the first time in years that change is possible. 🙏 Thanks for being such a great listener and working on creating for our family.”

In the few years I’ve been with Penny, I have made more progress than I have with any other therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable in EMDR, which has been a game changer for me. Additionally, she is exceptionally knowledgeable, perceptive, and intuitive in addressing my anxiety/health anxiety. Her approach is compassionate yet logical, which has been truly life changing for me. I have never felt more stable than I do now and I’m so happy I found Penny.”

Penny has been a lifeline for our family. She’s not just a therapist; she’s a trusted ally who has helped my son, daughter, wife, and me navigate through some of our toughest challenges. Her warmth, wisdom, and genuine care have brought us closer together and given us hope for a brighter future. Penny is more than just a therapist; she’s a part of our family’s journey towards healing and understanding.”

There are so many positive things to say about Penny. She started out as my daughter’s (who was in high school at the time) therapist during the pandemic. She would bring in our family just to get a better understanding of the dynamics so she could better help her. Our daughter now 19, thriving and successful, is in college and living her best life. She also saw our family a few times as we navigated three teenagers and the pandemic. And as life would have it, I now see Penny for myself. And we all know, life is not easy…so there’s Penny.”
